QEB U-18 lifts SRMB Cup

Quess East Bengal U-18 defeated SSA Rangpur, Bangladesh by 3-0 margin in the final of SRMB Cup to win the tournament which was held at Jalpaiguri.

Srikumar Karjee, Sougata Hansda and Shrawan Lama scored for the Junior red & golds.
QEB edge past Southern Samity

Quess East Bengal edged past Southern Samity by 2-1 margin in the Calcutta Football League Premier Division 'A' match played today at East Bengal ground.

The match started half an hour late due to heavy rain. Footballers on both sides didn't play as expected due to the slushy ground conditions.

East Bengal took the lead in the first half when Bidyashagar Singh scored the goal in the 33rd minute. Jaime Santos’s flick head from Lalrindika’s corner found Bidyashagar and the young striker’s clinical header found the net to gave red & gold the lead. Before that, Borja’s header from Lalrindika’s went outside touching the crossbar.

In the 48th minute red & golds Asheer Akhtar saved a shot from Southern player from the goal line. In the 62nd minute, A Santos header from Lalrindika’s corner gave East Bengal 2-0 lead.

QEB’s new recruit Juan Gonzalez replaced Santos in the 72nd minute. Soon after Juan's left footer was saved by Southern custodian Ishan Debnath. In the 82nd minute Arjun Tudu reduced the margin receiving a through pass from Mahmoud Al Amna.

East Bengal also missed a few chances after that. Pintu Mahata came close to scoring but he failed to touch a centre from Lalrindika. Borja was outstanding in the defense for the red & golds as he thwarted the moves initiated by man of the match Al Amna.

East Bengal fans displayed a tifo in the gallery paying regards to the coaching staff on the Teacher’s Day.

With this win East Bengal have 10 points in five matches.

The Kolkata CFL derby between arch rivals Quess East Bengal & Mohun Bagan ended in a goalless draw today at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan.

Mohun Bagan got the chance in the 16th minute of the match as Beitia floated a centre but Fran Gonzalez header just missed the mark.

In the 22nd minute Ronaldo Oliveira passed Pintu Mahata on the right and Pintu centered the ball to Ronaldo again in the box, but he missed the opportunity. In the 43rd minute, Bagan’s V P Suhair missed an one is to one situation as he shot the ball into Mawia’s hand.

In the first half, Mohun Bagan played passing football and made attempts to crack the red & gold defense but Marty Crespi stood up along with Mehtab and thwarted their moves.

East Bengal bounced back after the break with counter attacks. Though Ronaldo & Marcos posed some problems in the Bagan defense but the red & golds too failed open the deadlock. V P Suhair missed another opportunity for Bagan in the 60th minute.

In the 70th minute gaffer Alejandro made double changes with Santos & Bidyashagar coming in place of Marcos and Ronaldo. But Mohun Bagan defenders kept their citadel intact with the match ending in a goalless draw.

QEB thrash Aryan 3-0

Alejandro's boys defeated Arians 3-0 in the the CFL Premier Division A match played today at East Bengal ground. From the beginning, the red & gold brigade made a storm of attack. Kassim Aidara shot in the goal in the 26th minute was deflected off a Aryan defender. Bidyashagar Singh wasted an easy opportunity in the 39th minute as he failed to push the the ball into the open net from a pass from Samad on the right.

Then the desired goal came in the 41st minute to give East Bengal the lead. Brandon's cross from the right found Bidyashagar but he made a mess of it and luckily it went into the feet of Lalrindika Ralte who made no mistake in slotting in with a pile driver.

East Bengal boosted their attack in the second half. In the 60th minute Ronaldo Oliveira and Santos combination fetched the second goal for the red & golds. Jaime Santos powerful shot from left beat the Aryan custodian.

East Bengal still had many opportunities but all are thwarted by Aryan goalkeeper Sayad Bin Abdul Kadir. Although an Aryan defender fouled Ambekar in the 88th minute, but the referee applied the advantage rule and the ball went on to Santos who scored his second in the match to make the scoreline 3-0.
